Importing graphs to
QuarkXpress
Usually
the graphs are created in Freehand or Illustrator.
As with greyscale images, the graphs taken from image libraries
should be opened and saved in FreeHand in order to avoid
unnecessary printing problems. Attention should be paid
particularly on colour definitions: they must be, according to the
final layout work, either CMYK colours (process colour jobs) or
spot colours (spot colour jobs).
Headings,
text logos and, in particular, special fonts should be con-verted
to paths. Large text areas (body text) should be left as text, but
it is important to make sure that the fonts can be found at Acta
Print. In Illustrator, the fonts may also be saved along with the
job in the same file.
You
can without problems place TIFF and EPS pictures into FreeHand and
Illustrator, as long as you don't forget to send also the original
files to the printer. You should avoid unnecessary fades and too
complicated paths, as they may block up the printers.
A
FreeHand or Illustrator EPS imported to QuarkXpress may be scaled
almost without limits, but if it contains bitmap images, you
should keep within 60 to 120 percent limits.
A
FreeHand job should be saved as Macintosh EPS; also the
FreeHand document should be included in the file. Then it will be
possible to open the job in FreeHand for eventual editing.
